Information
AbyssiniansAbyssinians are a highly active and personable breed. Abyssinians love people and "helping" them in all household activities. They are very intelligent, mischievous, independent and affectionate. Abyssinians enjoy climbing to high places such as kitchen counters, bookshelves and cat towers. Abyssinians frequently retain their kitten-like behavior late into adulthood.
For those who appreciate a somewhat impish personality, an Abyssinian will quickly become your best friend.
Abyssinians are accepted in four colors within the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). Ruddy and red are the most common colors, blue and fawn (referred to as the dilute colors) are less common. Abyssinians are slightly smaller than the average cat, females usually grow to 6-8 lbs. and males usually grow to 8-10 lbs.

Somalis are long-haired Abyssinians. Somalis and Abyssinians have the same personality traits and are accepted in the same four colors. Somalis usually grow to be a little larger than Abyssinians. Despite their description of being a long-haired Abyssinian, their coat is full in the ruff and tail giving the Somali a fox-like appearance. The coat length is longer than an Abyssinian but much shorter than a Persian or Maine Coon. Their coat rarely mats and needs just an occasional brushing to prevent tangles in the underarm and "britches" area. Cat Fanciers Association Somali Breed ProfileFront Range Policies
Placement of Pet Cats and Kittens:Each kitten is placed between 12 - 16 weeks of age to provide sufficient time for socialization and completion of two rounds of inoculations. Kittens and cats are placed with contracts requiring that the kitten or cat be kept exclusively as an indoor pet and prohibiting declaw. All of our kittens are sold with a health and genetic guarantee and replacement clause. Our breeding cats are tested for FIV, FeLV, PK and PRA to help ensure healthy offspring. Due to the increase in check fraud in recent years, we only accept cash for all local sales and we require payment in advance prior to shipping. All kittens and cats are placed already altered (spayed or neutered), micro-chipped, vaccinated and registered with CFA. The price for a pet kitten is $700.00 (which includes the above veterinary costs typically incurred by the new owner). A retired adult or retired show cat is generally between $100.00 and $400.00.
Placement of Show and Breeding Cats:
Placement of cats for show and or breeding purposes is limited to persons who have demonstrated a strong commitment to their role as the care taker for their pets and to improving the health and quality of the breed through active participation in cat shows. Persons interested in acquiring a show or breeding cat should be prepared to discuss in depth, their intentions, prior experience and future plans.
Pedigrees for Front Range Abyssinians and Somalis may be found in the EROS database.
Stud Service:To provide the healthiest environment for our cats, we maintain a closed cattery and we do not provide stud services.
Cattery Visits:Our cats are our pets and they live in our home with us. We do not keep our cats in a separate cattery building. As such we can not accommodate the numerous requests we receive for cattery visits at times other than when we have kittens available for adoption. Prospective persons are welcome to come to any of the local cat shows where they can meet us and see our cats and kittens.
